A group of girls from each of Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) high schools participated in a “Lunch with the Experts” thanks to BP’s Women in Wells group.
This SBISD program is designed not only to expose students with a demonstrated interest in a targeted field to future career possibilities, but also to build students’ professional network and allow students to practice their networking skills.
During their visit to BP’s headquarters, students gained firsthand insights into the energy industry through the perspectives of women working in the field.
A highlight of the trip was a panel discussion featuring BP employees who shared their journeys, challenges, and triumphs as women in the energy industry. The girls were encouraged to participate, ask thoughtful questions, and explore the many career paths available within the field. Students were then given a unique opportunity to visit BP’s High Performance Computing Center (HPC), which houses one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers used for commercial research.
The students left with more than just inspiration—they learned what a day in the life of an engineer looks like and gained tips for how to best position themselves for future success. By seeing women in leadership roles and hearing their stories, students realized the possibilities that lie ahead.
This opportunity opened doors for these students and reinforced the importance of representation and mentorship in helping young women see themselves as future trailblazers in the energy industry.
Thank you to BP’s Women in Wells group for your collaboration and support of our students!
